The curricula purchased by districts and schools are often prepared in a standard form to ensure equal access for learners. The content and the manner in which it is presented are designed to be relevant in ways that are very generic to improve their marketability. However, the students who sit in our seats are not standardized. They do not come to school with the same preferences, identities, experiences, contexts, or cultures.
Let's move standards. Come learn how we can use Standard Analysis to support moving data and helping learning stick in the final weeks of the semester and improve student performance. Standards-based assessment is meant to offer a way that teachers can identify the skills that matter most, can evaluate student work fairly, can give feedback to students that is helpful and actionable, and can use data to revise upcoming lessons to meet their students' needs.
Dr. Chaunté Garrett is an accomplished education leader with extensive experience in instructional leadership, curriculum development, and school transformation. She has served in various roles, including Chief Academic Officer and Superintendent, leading initiatives that have improved academic achievement, increased graduation rates, and expanded dual enrollment opportunities.
With a strong background in data-driven strategies, whole-child education, and instructional excellence, Dr. Garrett currently shares her expertise with school leaders and districts globally as the chief executive officer of Empowering Learners and Leaders to Excel, LLC, an educational consulting company serving to help empower school communities with data-driven strategies to drive school improvement.
